Broken Bones & Braces!

We've been busy around here.  Molly (unfortunately) broke the radius and ulna bones right above her wrist (March 28th) the week before spring break...ugh!  She fell at soccer practice with her Daddy and he told he to be tough and play....although at this point it wasn't swollen & she could move it.  The next morning I get a call from school that she tripped getting out of the teachers rocking chair after she had shared the morning announcements with her class AND FELL ON THE VERY SAME ARM!!!  So we blame one break on Daddy and one on her teacher (Mrs. Blanck) hee hee!  So our spring break started out a little slow.......But was she ever such at trooper!!! (especially after she got a PINK cast on)
And these two kids who are already growing up way too quickly seem to look even older now with braces!
They are so cute!!!

Happy Easter!!!

Our Easter weekend was spent in Georgia, coloring eggs, relaxing very little (pulling lots weeds out of the major landscaping this house has the days before Easter), an egg hunt (that wasn't nearly as much fun without all the cousins), a big Easter lunch & of course going to Mass to celebrate!
 Coloring eggs!
 With Ben's final touches!
My sweet casted girl!
 Ready for church

And Ben and Molly always want to do a funny picture and my sweet
Rachel says, "Really? I am not doing that, It's Easter!"
Hope your Easter was great too!

Spring Break Fun

Since we didn't go away anywhere for the break and the weather was so nice (perfect 85 and sunny) we did a "staycation" and Trevor was able to take off 3 days during the week.  We enjoyed pool time in the backyard and just hanging out.  We also went to a movie with friends one morning, (below) out to lunch at the kids favorite place (Red Robin) and then swam some more.  Also went to a science musuem (see next post) and hit the library (which my kids also love) and shopping at one of the malls here. (which I love) The only problem with the week was that it went by too quickly.  I love it when the kids are home with me!!!!

Tellus Science Museum

Spring Break fun.  Tellus Science Museum in Cartersville, GA is awesome.  About 45 minutes away and we had a great time.  Complete with another Daddy off day and perfect weather.  Not sure what was enjoyed more, the museum or the grounds around it, where they played, climbed rocks and we even enjoyed a picnic lunch.

And enjoyed some panning and digging.  We are the proud new owners of 2 shark teeth, an old fossil, and 3 little "pretty DIAMONDS"....gems.

Rachel loved the solar house that we were able to tour, especially since she is working on a solar/green project at school.  She took lots of pictures and notes!
Planetarium was great too. And the entire place was beautiful.... inside and out!

Amicalola Falls State Park

Back in March, we had a Monday out of school (cheers to inclement weather days not used) so Trevor took the day off and we made a trip up to Amicalola Falls about 45 minutes from our house.  We had been told it was a really fun place so we packed up a picnic lunch and off we went for some fun family adventures.  We must have picked the right day, perfect weather and we even got to see a couple of owls that one of the Rangers had out getting them acclimated to being around people.....and I am certain that my kids were more nervous than those owls were.  Here are some pics from our trip.
Ready to go: although...yes, right off the bat we took the wrong trail (and a much steeper one than what we were supposed to take) and didn't discover it until 30 plus minutes into the uphill climb! :)
Along the way, I took some pictures and the kids did LOTS of exploring!
But once we were on the right trail we made it to the base and climbed 175 steps up to it.  But for Molly that was enough so Rachel and I gladly volunteered to stay with her, while Ben and Trevor kept going, 425 more to the top of the overlook.  Once they were back down, we hiked back and enjoyed a picnic lunch. (sorry no pictures of the picnic.. everyone was so hungry...there was no time for pics!)
After the picnic we drove up to the top and the view was amazing!!
Now that everything is all bloomed out we can't wait to go back and see how different it looks!
I
On the way home we stopped so I could take a picture of this little church that I saw on the way.  It reminded me of the little Silver Valley Church back in Arkansas.  We love family fun days!
