Going Well!!

Rachel and Ben are both doing great!!! It was rough there for a while...with Molly...not them....she wanted all the attention they were getting. We even made a trip to the doctor with her on Thursday only to be told...there is nothing wrong....she was just wanting what they were getting! But with them feeling so much better and Molly back to our sweet little girl...things are looking up. The last two days they have only had to have tylenol twice and there were no spells where they went and crashed on the couch. Uncle Sean, Aunt Cosima, Will and Calla were here all weekend and then we went to Aunt Maureen's yesterday for Michael's 5th birthday party and they were pooped when we got back but did great. And they moved back into their own rooms tonight......so hopefully it will be a good nights sleep for everyone!

Hopefully over the hump!

Things are going better. No more nausea and they seem to be up doing a little more between rests. I can always tell when they are to the limit, they are back on the couch with their pillow and blanket watching something. Rachel has been having bad ear aches but they said it was normal and could last up to 14 days. Ouch! We have been putting on heat and that seems to help. The same nerve that goes to the throat goes to the ears so that is why.
It has also been a bit of a challenge with Molly....why is she not getting so much attention??? But she is doing better as well and hopefully we are over the hump!

Days 3 thru 5 have arrived.....

and they did say that these would be the worst...so if we can get through this maybe we will be over the hump. They are doing well....just today was probably the worst day so far. Both were sick this morning (vomiting and nausea) and then Ben had it on and off all day. Neither are eating or drinking as much as they were the first couple days. Rachel is either doing a little better or not complaining as much... of course Ben is a boy! We are stocked with all the ice cream, popsicles, pudding, jello, and they don't want anything. The doctor did call in a pill for Ben if the nausea keeps up, so far we haven't given it to him yet. They definitely laid around more today. So hopefully tomorrow will be a better day! But who knows....Daddy is going back to work..............OH NO!

The Good Patients!

This was later tonight....things started going downhill...but isn't he sweet!
Rachel was hurting more tonight but still reading away! By bedtime she said it was worse....and they say days 3 thru 5 are the worst.......
And this was early in the day!
They are both doing pretty good today. Last night the pain increased in the evening and we broke into the tylenol with codeine a couple times but today they have only had tylenol. (we have to give it to them around the clock for the first five days) Probably not drinking as much today but we are trying to force a little. Rachel gagged on some pills this morning but other than that...thank goodness there hasn't been much nausea. Kinda up and down as they told us it would be. As you can see in this picture...Ben is in charge of the remote....lol! They are on the couch watching "Magic School Bus." Rachel got her hair cut off (3 or 4 inches) the night before the surgery. It is really cute.
Molly just got back and was she ever so glad to see them as they were her. But she keeps asking Ben if he is happy? She doesn't quite understand...but was thrilled when Trevor was bringing her home and she says, "Daddy, we almost to the hospital now?" He says, "honey, we are almost home. Ben and Ray Ray are already home" and then he here's this...."Oh Yeah, Yeah, Yeah!"
Keep praying!

Surgeries are done!!

The tonsils and adenoids are gone!! They both did great. Played before and acted so relaxed. Better than I was. I didn't like the putting to sleep part at all. When we got to go into recovery to see Rachel (she went first)...she was sitting half up, eating a popsicle. We couldn't believe it! Ben isn't doing as well, felt nauseous and his coloring isn't as good but seems to be better now that we are home. They are both on the couch and watching a movie. Liquids only today but tomorrow they can eat what they want. They are already wanting other things. They haven't eaten since last night so I am sure they are hungry but they are loving the flavor ice.
Keep praying for a easy recovery. All the meds were called in from the nurses. Doctors and Nurses.... they were all so great. Said they would take Ben and Rachel any day!! The cutest thing was that Ben wanted to be with Rachel after he woke up so they moved their beds together and they were side by side then. Laying...just looking at each other.
"Aunt Susan" came up from Louisville and will stay until tonight. Molly is with Aunt Maureen and Daddy is going to the pharmacy so I gotta get back to my sweet kids!

King for the Day!

After church Ben & Rachel headed straight to the basement and made Daddy a crown so he could be "King of the Day!" They thought of it all on their own and were very proud of the finished product. Daddy was a good sport and wore it most of the day. They went on to become a knight, page and peasant to play along the parts. It was cute! Happy Father's Day to the best Daddy in the World!!! (they kept telling him that and I would have to agree!) Especially since I sat on the couch and watched golf all day! Go Tiger!!!
I did get up and make him his favorite meal for dinner...cashew chicken...then went back to golf.
*Safe travel wishes to Grandma & Grandpa who left for Ireland today.
*Plus, this is the dreaded week for us....Thursday is the big day for Ben and Rachel's surgeries! Pray for them, for us all!!

Recital 6-8-08

Here's Rachel after her recital with Grandma. She did awesome and all that rehearsing paid off. All that for a 3 minute dance on stage!
She was most excited that she got flowers and that we were there to watch her. Plus she got moved up to the next level in her class so she is doing well.

Art Show

Ben did this at art camp last week. The teacher took the picture, gave it to him and he traced it off and painted it on canvas.
We are so proud of it.....as is he!! He wants to hang it in his room.

Rachel made a ballet picture as one of her projects. This is on a streched thin material and she did ballet shoes, leotard and skirt. Too cute!!!

Happy June!

This picture was taken on Memorial Weekend after church. We stopped across the street and got this picture by the water. They looked so patriotic!
It's been a busy week. Ben and Rachel are taking art camp at their school Tuesday through Friday from 8 - 10. I think there are only 9 kids there so they are getting lots to do and having fun! We have played at the park, started the summer reading program...(Rachel was zooming thru the books on our rainy day today) and even made a trip to have lunch with Daddy and stop at the Double Dip for some ice cream while we were at the library. Molly loves having them home!
Last night was very stormy here. The tornado sirens were going off about 9 so we all had a campout in the basement. I didn't get much sleep because the lightning was so bad....and I got two of the three down without them even waking up. It's supposed to be hot and humid the rest of the weekend. What happened to the 70 & 80 days? It really shouldn't be in the 90's already!
Big recital weekend for Rachel....finally! She has her last scheduled ballet class tomorrow. Grandma and Grandpa are coming for the weekend and hopefully we will get the tile back splash done in the kitchen. Another project that we can cross off the list....yeah.
And Christy.....I changed the blog background.....yeah for me!
