Happy Birthday Calla!

Our little niece, Calla....celebrated her 1st birthday this weekend so we all went to Bloomington, IN for the celebration. Trevor's parents and sister went as well so all the cousins were together. She was so cute! It's hard to believe she is turning one already. We had a fun weekend there.

Coming home yesterday was a different story. Bad winds from hurricane Ike and the ride home was a little scary. There were trees down every where, some that we actually saw fall...we even saw an 18 wheeler flipped over on the side as we were trying to keep the van on the road. We were coming back for CFP class but it ended up being cancelled because of all the power out in the area, trees and power lines down and roads blocked. Last night they said 800,000 in the Cincy area are without electricity but today it's down to 600,000. Luckily we are not one of them! Schools are closed...hopefully we won't be using up all the snow days for this storm.
So with the kids home today we got to clean the basement playroom...they were so thrilled!

Now they have called and said no school again tomorrow.....so maybe we can do something more exciting tomorrow. Gosh, I hate that we are wasting our snow days on power outages!

Imaginations!

Last week Molly was watching her Baby Noah (Baby Einstein DVD) and the next thing I see is this from Ben and Rachel...who evidently were into it more than Molly was. They had out pretend laptops, a world map, & binoculars and they were going to all over (Asia, Antarctica, South Pole) to all the places they thought the movie was from. Why they needed the binoculars to watch a wide screen tv in front of them is still in question.....but they had fun using their imaginations!

Molly came into the living room yesterday with a tool box of books, dress up skirt, bracelet, and a winter hat.....and says, "We ready to go Mommy?"......so darn cute, isn't she!!! Yes, I think she is... even if she is up in her room yelling....."Mommy, I waked up"....as I type this and the little toot hasn't even been to sleep yet! Good try though!

Busy, busy.......

Yes, we are still here and surviving 2nd grade. They are both doing good at school. They started flex group this week and they both ended up with their homeroom teacher for flex group so we were excited about that. So from 9:10 until 11:10 each day they have flex group where they are with other kids who are in a higher level as well. Rachel zoomed through her homework pages this week while Ben took 3 days to do them..they are due tomorrow but I told them they were not waiting until the last day. He kept saying they are boring and Molly keeps distracting him and that he already knows it...etc. I was ready to scream or have a drink! lol
I told him next week he was on his own. No tv, computer or playing until it was done and if he chose to not do it then he could suffer the consequences with his teacher. I wasn't going to stay after him to get it done.
Rachel has started soccer...she did awesome at her first game Sat. Trevor is her coach. They tied at 0 - 0 but her team dominated the ball and almost scored numerous times. They played a team that had 6 other second graders from our neighborhood...so we were just glad they didn't beat us!
Ben and Molly have both had colds but are doing better. Seems like this was the doctor check up week for all of us. Doctors & Allergists.
Molly had her first Gymboree Play class yesterday and loved it. So we will start going that weekly. Plus, she had two friends over to play earlier today and had fun. She misses Ben & Rachel but we went and had lunch with them last Friday at school so that was a big deal.
Off to get something done while Molly is asleep.............

Our Big Second Graders!

I was more sad than they were...they couldn't wait to get to school. I can't believe they are in the second grade already! Where does the time go...where did summer go! They had a great first day! They love their teacher, Mrs. Pagan. I had lunch duty at school today so I did get to see them in the cafeteria. When I asked them tonight what their favorite part was, they both answered....Everything! Hopefully this will stick through the year! Molly and I missed them more than they missed us!

Sleeping Beauty!

We had gone to the pool the other day and when we got home, I started getting dinner ready and it was all quiet on the couch...this little sleeping beauty was tired! It was so cute. Of course Ben & Rachel come in and see her and start saying, "Oh, how precious...she is so cute sleeping there!"
A little funny:
This morning when I heard her talking and went into her room to get her....she was talking to her imaginary reindeer! Then she gets Trevor and asks him, "Daddy, do you want to see my reindeer, do you want to pet it?" At least it's potty trained!
And believe it or not this little princess had strep last week! How... after all we went through with Ben and Rachel! Ugh!

We're Home!

We left on Friday, July 18th and got back yesterday...August 2nd. From Indiana for Cousin Will's third birthday, to NW Arkansas to visit friends (Trevor was gone part of this on a business trip to California..Mon.-Thurs.) then to Harrison for more visiting of family and friends, then back to Indiana to see the Gertz family on our way home. We swam, played, visited, saw lots of people and not all of them on the slide show below...but lots of fun with all! And if we didn't get to see you...please remember it was a busy trip, and hopefully next time we will see you!
The kids were great travelers! 2 weeks and a day! Great time but it is good to be home!

Our long trip...............
