Sat. morning Trevor took Rachel and Molly to the doctor. Both had fevers and no voices. He brought them both back on antibiotics even though Rachel tested negative to strep and they said Molly had bronchitis. As the day went on Sat. and into Sun. Molly got progressively worse and the worst breathing sounds I have ever heard. Into Sunday she didn't want to eat or drink so I took her to Children's Hospital Libery Campus (around 7 to A new facility about 20 min. away) where they got her in quick and got her hooked up to a breathing treatment and gave her steroids. They told me it sounded and looked like croup but wanted to do some x-rays to be sure it wasn't something else. After the first round of them they came back and said they needed to do some more because they didn't show what they wanted. Then after that the doctor came in and told me that she didn't want to alarm me but.....(the word you don't want to hear!) that the x-rays showed some things that they are concerned about and need to take Molly by ambulance to Cincinnati Children's Hospital downtown. (about a 30 min. ride) Trying not to freak out and scare Molly, Trevor's sister Maureen comes to our house where Trevor was home with Ben and Rachel and she stays until Grandma and Grandpa could get here from Springfield. Trevor drives down and meets us at the hospital where I rode with Molly in the ambulance. She was so precious, all strapped in and never has cried through all of this that they are doing to her! (So far anyway) She slept the entire ride before we were out of the parking lot. She was sent down with a nurse, EMT and her own respiratory therapist. When we get to Children's they called in the ENT because they were worried that Molly might have something called Bacterial Tracheitis. After seeing her they were sure with her responding to the breathing and steriods that it would be fine but they ran a tube with a little camera on the end of it... down her nose and into the throat to look. With Trevor holding her down..this is where the tears started...but she did good with all things considered. But unfortunately it wasn't clear like the ENT thought it would be and gave us options: 1)Take her into surgery and make sure that the trachea wasn't lining with mucus and remove it if needed or 2) Admit her and watch her to make sure she didn't get any worse, which is what we did. And by the time all these things were done and they got her into her room it was 2 or 3 in the morning. So she spent Sunday night and Monday there. At one point yesterday morning we had a team of 8 or so doctors in the room talking to us about the bacterial tracheitis and her case. It was not fun. I of course didn't sleep at all and her breathing and snoring were so loud you couldn't sleep anyway. Trevor left late morning to come home and take Rachel back to the dr. too because we didn't want her doing this too, since she was still sick. Then he came back down. But they said the croup in an 8 yr. old and a little one who just turned 3 are two different stories. Molly's were small to begin with so if she swells..there isn't enough room. They did show us the xrays and it was scary how narrowed the passage was. I am not going to second guess myself about if I should take her or not anymore ..ugh. Anyway, last night they came in and told us they were comfortable sending her home if we were comfortable taking her or they felt comfortable keeping her another night. They were sure that it was just croup since she had shown some improvement through the day. And with Molly laying on the bed, whining, and saying at least 50 times...I want to go home.....we chose to come home and watch her. It was hard for her to settle down, I think she was overly tired and crying but once she finally went to sleep she did good. I checked her a couple times and she was breathing really well and although she still won't eat, they told us that was normal and to push the liquids. Trevor has gone to the store to stock up on the things she might like and Rachel is still home sick as well. All I want is for everyone in my house to feel better! Trevor and I were shoveling and the kids were playing. They were very excited that they made snow chairs & wanted pictures taken. 
This was taken out the front door this morning. The snow was coming down and the flakes were so big...it looked so pretty! More snow is coming and ice! Probably no school tomorrow either! Trevor is working from home today. Molly is now napping, Ben is playing the Wii and Rachel & I are going to go finish watching the Little House on the Prairie that we started earlier.
